Fishing for KnowledgeA Poem by thewholesoula poem about Man's pursuit for knowledge, or lack thereof
Humanity adrift
above seas of ignorance guided by a compass that only tells us the time fishing for knowledge with question marks for fishing hooks we tackle the seas our beliefs on the line. For answers we cast bobbing our little brains in hope for a big catch reeling in all that has been learned: plastic rings off six packs, a semi-detached brassiere and occasional minnow. Though at least I am still fishing for knowledge In the knowledge I know so very little myself disentangled from 'all knowing' churches who fish not for fish, but for man! Rowing us in circles, oaring with their crucifixes, scaring schools of fish away! And then of course the idiot, those fools knowing not themselves who willingly jump over board to back stroke with a big blooming grin splashed across their Chevy Chases chanting "ignorance is bliss!" while gurgling another mouthful of sea water! Though fishing for an end to this final stanza I'm tempted to join in their folly as I tire, trying desperately, to harpoon a whale with my quill.... © 2015 thewholesoulReviews
