Chapter 9

There's a wolf in my bed

When the wolf wakes up he’s surprised to be in a bed, Higure comes in and sees him trying to get outside

“Get back to bed, your hurt!” she yells locking the door behind her.

“This is none of your business,” he growls trying to get out

“You made it my business,” she says staring him in the eye “by safing my life,” the wolf sits down

“You weren’t meant to see me,” the wolf says trying not to look at Higure.

“See, hear or smell” Higure asks

“Wait you knew I was here, for how long.” The wolf says almost as if this was news

“From day one! Away, who cares what’s your name?” Higure says with a smile.

“My name?” the wolf asks “I don’t have one, in my clan you get given a name if you complete your first mission,”

“What was your mission?” Higure replies

“I was sent here to find a good dragon who practises dark magic.” He says staring at Higure

“Sorry there’s no one like that here” says Sora walking into the room “Yuki said that you had a visitor.” The wolf gets on his feet and tries to attack Sora

“What’s the matter?” Higure asks as she pulls the wolf away from Sora

“He lying, I know there’s a good witch here.” The wolf says falling to his knees

“Then we’ll find them and kill them,” Sora say walking out the door “I’ll tell my father that there’s a witch in the village again” Higure grabs the wolf as he tries and attacks again. When Sora’s gone the wolf asks

“Why doesn’t he know? He’s meant to be your friend,”

“I don’t want him to get hurt because of me” Higure says putting him back in her bed. The wolf looks at her as she leaves

“Do your parents mind me staying here?” he asks

“My parents are dead, so they won’t mind,” Higure replies. The wolf lies down and thinks about what it would be like to have no parents and have to be on your toes or the village will kill you. When the wolf awakes Higure comes in with some soup

“You must be hungry” she says giving him the food “Be careful of whom you make enemies with Sora’s my friend, but he wouldn’t be able to do a thing if you got put in jail. Sora already hates you so try and make friends with him he’s the chief’s son.” The wolf looks at her

“How can you be so close to him when he wants to kill you!” the wolf yells, “You’re on a small rope as it is, if he finds out your dead.” The wolf stands up facing her

“I know, but what can I do it’s not like I can run away.” Higure says looking at the wolf “sit down please,” Higure sits on a small chair her purple hair running down her side. “Why do you care anyway?” she asks the wolf sits down on the bed

“Because I need your help and I don’t what to see this war anymore.” He says looking at her “If you could use a spell to get the leaders of the clans to see eye to eye,”

“I can’t do something like that without killing people,” Higure says looking at her hands. The wolf looks at her

“So there’s nothing you can do. And this war will not stop till one clan wins, how did this war even start?” The wolf says standing up.

“I know how it started, but do you want to know is the question?” Higure say standing up
