In The Pains Of Life

In The Pains Of Life

A Poem by The Voice Inside Me

There is a girl,
who stands in front of a mirror,
and always hates what she sees.

She has tried with all her might,
to change herself,
to be loved by those,
who love her not.

Do you know her?

Sometimes she smiles,
if just for a while.
Because smiles chase away,
tears.

The girl there,
in the mirror,
whose skin is drawn tight,
over bones that threaten to break her.
She still doesn't see.

Will you help her?

That girl in the mirror,
always judges the one who stares back at her,
do you now see?

I wish you would,
because let me tell you a secret.
That girl in the mirror,
is me.
