A Chapter by Naomi

It was snowing the night that Jary announced he would be leaving forever. Galina looked at her husband in shock. This could not be happening. Her husband, Jary, looked at her with a sad look on his terrifying face. Ever since he had gotten turned into a Vampire Hunter, it got harder and harder to look at him the same way.

Galina wiped her eyes. “You can’t just leave me here! We have a child now, Jar. And a beautiful one too! Please…” She was begging him to stay.
Jay shook his head, controlling every urge to kill the woman he loved—had loved. Jary had been human before the Government got a hold of him and turned him into this terrifying beast. Every time he looked at his wife, he felt this unexplainable feeling to kill her. This was partly because she was a pure blood vampire. The other part was that Vampire Hunters killed anything that got in their way. Slowly but surely, he was turning into the monster he loathed.
Jary stared at the beautiful creature before him. He had to get out of here before he killed his wife and daughter. “I’m sorry,” he managed to choke out. “If I stay here, you will all die.”
Galina gulped and looked around the room, anywhere but his—its—eyes. “We can work things out! Jar… I love you.” She looked at him then, her eyes pleading him to stay.
Again he resisted to temptation to whip out his gun and shoot her. “I… I can’t! You don’t understand how it feels! Every time I look at you, I get this… this… urge. An urge to kill you, Gally! I don’t want that to happen. The Doctors said it would take only a few weeks to fully transform into a Vampire Hunter. It’s been a month! I’m surprised you guys aren’t dead yet!” Jary swallowed and ran a sweaty hand through his hair. “I have to go, Galina.” He took a deep breath and looked at her one last time.
Suddenly, Louise ran into the room and clung to Jary’s leg. “No! Daddy, don’t go!”
“Louise! Stay away from him!” yelled her mother and pulled Louise away.
“Daddy, no! Stay here! Please!” The child was crying now and clung to Galina’s shirt. “Daddy…”
Jary’s face with etched with pain. Every fiber of him had wanted to kill Louise. But he had resisted. He turned away from them in shame. “I’m sorry Louise. Daddy loves you very much.” Jary swallowed and took a breath. “But Daddy has to go now. But don’t worry;” he added in quickly, “I’ll be back soon. I love you both very much.”
Then Galina was crying. Tears fell from her eyes and down her face. Jary couldn’t take anymore of this. He turned towards the door and opened it. “Good-bye,” he whispered without turning around. Then a gust of wind entered the house and he was gone. That was the last time his family saw him. The last time his daughter saw him.
