Accepting an invitation from Death

Accepting an invitation from Death

A Story by The Unknown Sith

As I awake from a peaceful snore in the early hours of the morn,

Oh whats this?

something was slid under my bedroom door

and as I looked at this I realized it was something I had never seen before

nor was it something I could ignore.

As I read it, so started my shortness of breath.

It was for this evening and it was an invitation from Death.

Knowing it was finally my time and I really had no choice,

I slid it back under the door with the simple words of ' I accept'.

I moped back to my bed, heaviness becomes my head.

Suddenly my sleep is broken again, as my eyes adjust to a door cracked open.

My mouth for only a limited time still has it's abilities,

as the following from my lips are spoken:

'Welcome my friend

I presume you're

My Inevitable Doom

From outside my room I see your shadow loom

Just lurking outside my slightly cracked open bedroom door

As you eagerly consume all my last escaping breaths

I guess you're here because you sense My Impending Death

Combined with the lack of fight, I have left

It's fine

I don't mind

You're more than welcome to come inside

There is no need to further hide

You can stay with me as long as you like.

Let me introduce you to my twin, Misery.

We have a long history, but my suggestion is to just leave her be.

With that being said,. you are free to weep with me and my old friend Sorrow.

We are sad over the fact that we know for me, there will be no tomorrow'

As My Inevitable Doom enters my room, we all nod as if to say we approve

Even though I am now too weak to speak

'it' can sense my relief as we finally meet.

Now the room fades as the back of my eye lids consume the last savory bits of light.

Next I appear before Death, invitation in hand.

He looks at me as he stands so far from the ground with a face of a never ending frown.

He tips his top hat while he gently lays me down.

He places a toe tag to my foot so discrete

As we all watch together, my family weep

Finally, Death places two coins over my eyes for when Charon and I meet.

Now, we skip to a scene of them lowering my casket down as my journey is finally complete.

I hope in closing these final thoughts will suffice:

'I would like to thank all my new friends for a sad, eerie, and enjoyable end'.

Sincerely your friend,

Life
