Selfish

Selfish

A Poem by theunionisloud
"

broken hopes in fear of broken hearts

"
I feel you everywhere,
what you do, where you are
and especially where you're not
A part of me, apart of me
You hide, and yet
its your dark eyes that burn
Holes
through mine
whenever you look my way
You know,
 the boldness, and fearlessness
is just a facade
I'm afraid of you
You'd grip, grasp my life
build me up, Define me
the way you already do
But
I can't even give you
the glances
hiding behind my eyes

steal them

because, even if it's a
long term
Investment
of enchantment,
right
Now,
I can't give me to you.
I can't give me to you.
Not when
I'm all that I have.

"I can't give me to you.
Not when
I'm all that I have." ---such a truth, wonderful conclusion, i reread this poem many times, still not sure what exactly to write, I love it, sorry this isn't a better comment, I'm adding this to my favorites.

Smartly well done and it has an addictive flow. Kudos

strong inner monologue here. The repetition with subtle variation ignites this piece, like breath to flame. the last four lines a great realization/summation. Good stuff.
