ReasonsA Story by Sigfried OnionsBeing the first of things that I put on this site, this is a story of a boy who uses many reasons to get out of trouble as he grows up.This is a story of a boy. He was born by a loving mother. The boy grew to seven. His Mother asked, “Did you take a cookie from the cookie jar?” The boy replied, “No, it was mice. I promise.” The Mother rolled her eyes, and the boy grew to eleven. His Mother asked, “How did you break your leg?” The boy replied, “I tripped on a rock while I was running.” The Mother rolled her eyes, and the boy grew to fourteen. The Mother asked, “Were you watching a video of sin? Were you slapping the salami?” The boy replied, “My friend said that’s what would make me manly.” The Mother rolled her eyes, and the boy grew to nineteen. The Mother asked, “Why must you leave me?” The boy replied, “For a job as an astronaut.” The boy chuckled, the Mother rolled her eyes, and the man grew to twenty-three. The Mother asked, “Why did you marry that woman?” The man replied, “I think she’s just the one.” The Mother rolled her eyes, saw the black-eye, and the man grew to thirty-four. The Mother asked, “Why are you putting me in a retirement home?” The man replied, “Because I know you’ll like it.” The Mother rolled her eyes, and the man grew to forty-seven. The Mother asked, “Will you miss me?” The man replied in a calming voice, “Of course.” A beep was heard through the hospital, and the man realized that no matter what, he still had a mother. © 2016 Sigfried OnionsAuthor's Note
