Hate Me Something Chronic

Hate Me Something Chronic

A Poem by The Dark Passenger

These footsteps go on forever
and still nothing's clearer
out of all the things i hate about myself
you're the one that sticks

this heart can't beat forever,
but these lies can last eternal
shock waves of insults dripping down our skin
blood dried up between our finger tips

between the rope burn and the splinters,
the mistakes and all the reminders,
you hate me something chronic,
you hate me something chronic

"love yourself", it's just a myth,
and the disease gets hard to shake
the mirror's just another portrait
of your own unflinching pain

Everything you are is everything they say
and everything you dream is not what it seems
there's been a hundred others, maybe more
you're just a face, another number for the score

between the bruises and the flesh wounds,
all the mistakes, and all the reminders,
you hate me something chronic,
you hate me something chronic.

it's not so black-and-white,
you can't split us down the middle
but it gets hard to see, and hard to tell,
present is all you get- no heaven and no hell.

between the heart ache and the self hate
all the mistakes and all the reminders
you hate me something chronic,
you hate me something chronic.
