Murder in My Sleep

Murder in My Sleep

A Poem by Kelsey Alex Rose

Your smile crawls serpentine, inching across your head.
Oh dread, dread,
another dead,
another head,
beneath my bed.

You kill slow, you kill quick;
a nick with your teeth, does the trick.
The blood trickles down, as the chaos grows more;
the theatrics aren't thinning, we're never a bore.
And as I cower in fear beneath my sheets,
the audience roars as they rise from their seats.
S'once born a child with morbid fear,
grew into phobia thanks to Mother dear.
Now I'm old enough to know what's real,
still frightened by a murderous zeal.
Oh "tick tock the mouse squeaks one."
Mother Noose whispers, to her gun.
My insanity grows with each drawing breath,
Oh, to be bestowed with untimely death.
Now slip on my ring, I'm Mrs.Reap,
with another murder in my sleep.
