pastel mornings, neutral days, neon nights

pastel mornings, neutral days, neon nights

A Poem by the tipsy writer

Let me wake to pastel mornings.

Sweet, soft skies that gently beckon in  new days.

To melodic rhymes of songbirds

Harmonized with soft river currents

That carry me on my way

Down well worn paths

Weathered bare by those who came before.

Let me learn from neutral days.

That examine body, mind, and (most important) soul.

In the thick bush of overgrown weeds,

Thorny vines that make me bleed.

I’ll get lost in tangled messes

To find myself

After everything’s been stripped away.

Let me worship neon nights.

Bright, bold, painted stripes of dying light.

The soft sands of ocean beaches

And the horizon in the distance

Foretelling eerie feelings

Of ephemeral existence.

Before I sleep and pray for another day.
