Life is so much of an unfiltered middle and ending
In the beginning she filtered everything
Shielding me from what I shouldn’t of known at that age
Protecting me from what was on the next page
I miss that
She gave me life
And put up that fight
So I can keep it
So that me, my sisters and my brothers
Could become
Something she wasn’t
An extension of she and he
Mother and father
Graceful as the sun
While trying to mend what was once done
Two forces melted in to one
Only to become
My mommy and daddy
Ma and pops
Two names that grow simultaneously
Together
See this is another one of those heartfelt tips
My pops dead years ago
And ma
Well she had to become two parts of a whole
Raising four bad a*s kids
With a plastic Pink Bat
That s**t hurt
It stung my baby fat
And everything else she could throw
You know shoes
Air freshener cans
Water bottles
Remote controls
Pens
Pencils
Air conditioners
Butcher knives
Guns (without the bullets)
Picnic tables
Babies
ha...you know I’m just jokin
(about the butcher knife, gun and babies)
She is my mother
and I love her
She gave her all to me
Protected me
Shielded me
Forgave me
Let me grow as me
Gave me the strength to become something she was not
A high school graduate
A mathmatition
A (MBA) accountant
A law school student
And a poetress
All the dreams of an underprivileged
Single parent kid
Sure I fucked up...a lot
But she held me
Guided me into the night
With her eyes as big as a flashlight
So that this b***h from the projects
Could shine and s**t
Usted ha encontrado su igual.
(You have met your match)
And for you I will do greater things for
Because I love you
S**t I’ma be the next great President
Yep this big ol' black b***h
