But I'm HereA Poem by J. Storm
In my dreams we meet again,
But with the passing of time, Like a distant sound of a train, Rumbling down my tracks of mistakes and lies, I am forgetting your faces. The sounds of your laughter and cries, Every trace of you has been torn down around me, Your memories and sound locked deep within, Can't reach them, they're fading away, Please come back to me I am still here with arms wide open, Can't you see me through this fog of time, Stand here-Screaming into the dark caverns of my mind, Reaching out to shadows that pass me by, The edge of my failure is sharp, Cutting right through the wings of those butterflies, There it is--the images of the day in the field come back, Sounds and sight flood into my mind, Oh how I've missed you so, I bend down to see the pretty colors on the wings, I reach out to hold you, Like mist in the air you're seen but can't be touched, The winds of my mind carry you away until next time, Please come back don't leave me here alone in my mind, Can't you see me anymore I'm not nothing anymore I am here
