Untitled, Colder Nights than Before

Untitled, Colder Nights than Before

A Poem by The Standard Poet
"

One of the many poems for the failed relationships I've had in the past few years.

"
its been so long since I've been able to hold your face in my hands
I'm afraid I'm forgetting the curves of your cheeks and the wrinkles around your eyes when you smile
The days have turned to weeks, and the weeks have tormented me as they change into months
I miss the way you nervously brushed your hair from your face
I miss the way you smile with your whole being as you force the laughter away
I miss the way you stroke my  arm as you dream and I hold you
I miss waking up with you in my arms
I remember these days, when what we had could last forever and there was time to spare
I remember the first moment I laid eyes on you that frozen winter night as you grinned and casually waved me over
And just like that I was under your spell
