Sad and Alone

A gust of wind blew past me making rustling noise as it swept the leaves along the trail.

It was a bright June afternoon

Kids are playing in the park

Boys shoved each other and playfully wrestle to find out who’s the strongest amongst them.

Girls giggled as they rode the merry-go-around.

Families gathered around picnic baskets for lunch.

Everyone was enjoying themselves in the park. But not me!

You see, I just got my heart ripped out of my chest when my best friend died. It’s been a week now since her death.

I stood there watching the people having fun. Yes, fun! That’s what I crave.

I wonder how long it will take for me to smile again. For the jolly to resume in me. I can assure myself that my life will never be the same again.

She was my best friend, my soulmate.
