The island of Blix was a peaceful one. King West and Queen Prill ruled the land, and men and women were equal. Blix had no history of wars, and no one thought of rupturing the balance. Except, that is, for one boy named Hoven.

Hoven told stories of how he had a vision, a vision that men were superior, and everything else inferior. Everyone laughed at him. Hoven grew to a young man, and stuck to his theory. But still no one listened.

Eventually, the men of Nefloyd, Hoven’s home town, grew weary of ignoring Hoven and decided to listen. The men were amazed at the new benefits and possibilities that being the commanding gender presented. After much debating, the men agreed; Hoven was right. Hoven convinced them to fight for this “right” and sent out messengers to the towns of Parfier, Neret, Stone Village, Salmon Village, and Ickle to spread the word of male superiority.

The population of men on the island was close to 800, and 632 of these men came to join Hoven’s disciples. Hoven assembled an army and set out to Royal City, the capital of Blix, to fight against the king and queen.

The night before the destined attack, Hoven addressed his army. “If you let me be your king,” he proposed, “then you, men, have the right to take in as many wives as you wish, and beat your children as much as you want.” The men, drunken with the idea of power, roared their approval.

Meanwhile, in the castle at the heart of the city, chaos was occurring. The king’s scouts had brought in reports of a gathering army rebelling against gender equality. King West and Queen Prill had plans for when and if this happened. So, Queen Prill and a dozen of her closest maids fled to the harbor in Chip Cove. They had preparations and supplies to bring with them, to wherever they were going. The queen and her maids boarded a ship that took them to a secret island, the whereabouts and existence only known by the royal family. The island was called Trlox, and the queen and her maids stayed there.

Grandmother Meadow, the mother of the king, however, fled with the newborn princess in the opposite direction of the queen. They hid in a hay cart traveling to Parfier, a small trading town in the north.

At the same time, the king and all the soldiers of the castle (men and women) were slaughtered by Hoven’s army. Hoven and his men went rampaging through the city, burning the buildings and destroying the homes. When Hoven was satisfied that nothing was left in the city, he took his army and relocated the capital of Blix north. He and his followers stayed there, and called it Hoven city.

As for the princess and her grandmother, most thought them dead. But there were rumors that they had lived, and the handful of people left on the island that were still loyal to the true rulers of Blix dared to believe in them. They hope that the princess, if truly alive, would someday rise against Hoven and return peace and equality to the land.
