Junky Mind

Junky Mind

A Poem by Ralph S. DeMarco
"

A page of random poetry from an old journal

"

To escape from the monotony of life

many comfort themselves with lies

other possess character to distinquish

between deception and despair

the desperation of human weakness

a charade we guardedly cling to

can pacify our painful memories

we can travel far from these demons

only to find the circular paths

twisting our illusive destination

to know ourselves can be impossible

a mountain in the icy distance

the creative summit beckons our ideals

we must climb always slipping

the dream can only die if we let it
