Chapter 5A Chapter by JessiCHAPTER 5 Alicia
finished her shower and pulled on her jogging pants and t-shirt before opening
the bathroom door. She had stepped into the hallway when she heard the man’s
voice. She was unable to tell what was being said but something didn’t feel
right. She walked to her room quickly and grabbed the pistol that she had
gotten after someone had broken into the house. She held it by her side as she
moved down the stairs. She walked silently towards the kitchen. “Why
do you want the girl?” He
laughed, “I wondered how long it would take you to ask. You probably think I am
after her to kill…” Alicia
shook her head, not wanting to hear anymore, “Andrea? Who’s here?” She
tightened her grip on the gun as she heard footsteps move closer to her. “Hello
my dear,” he spoke as he stepped out of the kitchen. His eyes landed on the gun
and he laughed. “Going to shoot me?” he asked sarcastically and jerked the gun
from her hands before she could stop him. “Nice try darling,” he chuckled, and
tossed the gun to the side. He stood close to her, causing her to have to look
up to see his eyes. “You my dear Alicia are rather hard to track down, and with
help from Andrea it’s no wonder.” He glanced over his shoulder at Andrea, “nice
try on those wards, they were tough to get down.” As
his attention was turned, Alicia threwall of her body weight at him and he
stepped back surprised. “Well well Alicia, I see you are as stubborn as your
mother.” She
glared at him as he didn’t budge. “Do not talk about my mother,” she stated
flatly. He
laughed and she glared at him more. “What do you find so funny?” she snapped. “The
fact that you think I care what you say.” Behind
them, Andrea stood clenching her fists. “Get out of this house,” she snapped,
only to make him turn his glare on her. She stepped backwards, her hand
reaching for the kitchen knife laying on the table. She watched the man closely
as he turned back to Alicia. “You see ladies, I have come here for a reason,
and I wont leave until that reason is satisfied.” “And
what is that reason?” Alicia asked cautiously. “You
of course,” he stated simply. “And
what do you want with me? To kill me?” He
rolled his eyes, “As I was trying to tell Andrea, I am not here to kill you. Neither
of you recognize me do you?” “You’re
a vampire of course we don’t.” He
sighed softly. “Look, I know you have no reason to trust me, but please let me
say what I need to…” Alicia
hesitated and looked at Andrea who slowly nodded. “Fine, talk.” “Alicia,
I knew your mother, and I know considering what I am that that doesn’t mean
much.” “What
you are, being a vampire,” Alicia stated. “Well…yes.
But I’m not just a vampire, I’m…” “The
vampire right?” Andrea snapped sarcastically. “No,
I’m a warlock.” “Oh
that’s rich. Alicia please let me kick him out.” Alicia
crossed her arms. “I should let her kick you out, but I want proof. Prove to me
that you are a warlock.” He
hesitated, obviously uncomfortable. “The problem with that is when I was
turned, my powers were enhanced. Anything I do is likely to hurt someone.” “I’m
sure you can manage something,” Andrea muttered and rolled her eyes. He
sighed but lifted his hand, and with an ease Andrea had never seen, he lifted
her to the ceiling. “Put
me down!” she snapped, her head hitting on the ceiling. He
casually let her drop to the floor and turned to Alicia. “Believe me now?” Alicia
glanced behind him at Andrea who was muttering as she got to her feet. She
nodded slowly. “Yes I believe you are a warlock, but why should I believe you
knew my mother?” “Because
Samantha was my teacher!” he snapped and sighed. “I was turned about two days
before she was killed. I..I was too weak to go and help her.” Alicia
heard the sorrow in his voice and found herself wanting to comfort him. “So why
did you come here now?” she asked softly. “My mother has been dead for a few
years.” “Because
I could not take a chance of them following me.” “So
why now?” Andrea asked. “Because
Alicia is about to come into her powers and they want to kill her.” Alicia
felt her breath catch in her throat and he looked at her. “I came to keep you
protected.” “She
doesn’t need a vampire to protect her,” Andrea snapped and walked pass him to
stand by Alicia. He
growled. “Do you ever keep your mouth shut?” he asked darkly. She
glared at him and turned to Alicia, “Warlock or not, he is a vampire now, we
cannot trust him.” Alicia
ignored her and walked to the man standing in front of them. “If you are lying
to me, then when I get my powers you will pay.” “Yes ma’am,” he spoke
softly, but the chuckle he tried to hide
resounded in the room. “The name is Alicia,” she
muttered and he laughed. “The name is Lucas.” © 2014 Jessi |
