Yesterday Memories

Yesterday Memories

A Poem by therisa

Sounds of young feet
Scurrying across
The leaf littered playground
As they rush home
From school.

Frosty wind bites
At them
As their cheeks glow
A rosy red hue.

For a few
After school means
A time of pain and tears
Where sanctuary
Has been revoked
Without any alternative.

Forced to run
The gauntlet of abuse
As the bullies
Line-up
Readying their fist
To launch
Their punishing assault.

Ah sweet memories
Of youth
God
I hate you.
