Forever Lost

Forever Lost

A Poem by therisa

Images move
Before my mind’s eye
Replaying events
From my childhood
More than 30 years ago.

Of a time
Others saw me
As a boy
Whom
Was different
From the other boys
In my mannerisms.

Fists and words
Whirl around me
Fighting each other
For their pound of flesh
From my soul.

Unable to explain
Why these events
Were happening
To me.

Am I
A glutton for punishment
By constantly
Going back to them.

Even though
I know
The end results
Which awaits me
Upon my return.
