A Light Of Hope?A Poem by therisa
I am not a religious person
By my nature But the words of one man Echoes throughout my brain Killed years before my own birth Yet his legacy live on. As he spoke About his own community struggle For acceptance and equality Within the fabric of American society Knowing He was signing His own death warrant. More than forty years later Since his death I wonder How far has society moved In achieving his vision? As a Canadian Looking across the border I have seen Many advances and retreats Occurring in my lifetime Still falling short Of his lofty dreams. Especially when Reflected in the Transcommunity Of our struggle To join the promise land Dr Martin Luther King Jr spoke So eloquently About. © 2011 therisaAuthor's Note
