Overstaying His Welcome

Overstaying His Welcome

A Poem by therisa

Winter is
Fast approaching its end
Yet somehow
Winter’s melancholy
Is lingering longer
This year.

As if
He knows something
We mortals do not
About His time
Of departure.

Even though
The calendars say
Another week or so
To go.

I feel His claws
Digging into my psyche
Without any regards
Of what I think
Or want.

Your time is over Old man
Best to make room
For us girls
To have our fun
In the coming light
So long denied
During Your stay here.

As the sun caress
Our pale cheeks
With it glowing warmth
Bringing a twinkle
To our once dull eyes.

Something
You would never understand
Winter
Even if You could stay
Forever.

I love to greet winter's arrival and am equaly glad to see it go. Too much of anything isn't good.
