Trapped In A Bubble

Trapped In A Bubble

A Poem by therisa

I do not understand
Why some Transwomen
Feel the need to be
More feminine
Then cis-women are.

While my wearing of jeans
Is somehow a betrayal
Of our cause
Which we are accepted
By others
As women.

Yet
If one was to
Take a quick look
You will see
Women of all types
Wearing jeans
Feeling totally feminine
While doing so.

Why the double standard
With regards
Towards me?

Is it
They feel uncomfortable
In their ability
To present themselves
As women?

Or something else
Much deeper
Then I will ever
Understand.

Either way
This imposition of feminine
On Transwomen is wrong
For there is
No one set definition
Of what it means
To be feminine.

Rather
Each woman has
Her own definition
Of what it means
To her.

That seems like a rather odd position to be in. I'm a woman and I live in jeans, polo-shirts, rugby tops and other similar things yet I still feel like a woman. It's just part of where I live and the job I do. I have ample curves and wouldn't be mistaken for a male even if I'm wearing what may be considered more masculine clothing. A nice pair of jeans can be very flattering on a woman, plus they're practical!

My understanding of the situation was that you are to be a woman. As such you should act and feel the same way those of us born this way do. I don't quite get why there would be a need to push things and go hyper-feminine; especially into today's society where women don't dress in traditionally feminine manners that much.

The habbit for people to lay down set little boxes and ridiculous rules and concepts irritates me no end! People should pull together and help each other not try and make them feel even more ostracised!
