Disease Of Modernity

Disease Of Modernity

A Poem by therisa

You speak
Yet wisdom is found wanting
In your words
Talking about things
You do not understand
Nor want to.

How is it
People worship the ground
Which you walk on
Thinking they have
Divine inspiration
Made human.

Unwilling to admit
Fault lies within themselves
For the mess
They find themselves in.

Preferring to take
The easy way out
In blaming everyone else
Should disaster befall them.

How petty
We have become
As a society
In general.

As we celebrate
The advances of progress
In what we have lost
Forever
Over what we have learn
In our enlightenment.
