Dirty LaundryA Poem by therisaReality of being a Transsexual
I do not understand
Why people feel They need to classify me In their strict binary system When I exist Outside of it. Although I identify and live my life As a woman Passing both physically And with my voice. Yet I constantly find myself Hitting against invisible walls Whether in the medical community Or by society In general. Knew Before I started hormones These barriers existed But was surprised By the degree of prejudice Which existed Against the Transcommunity As a whole. Especially From the other members Of the GLBT community Hearing some gays and lesbians Labeling Transpeople As gender traitors. Gee thanks For twisting Your poisonous dagger Deep into my back Like life is not hard enough In dealing with transitioning On a personal level. No wonder Those who pass Go stealth To avoid This added pain. © 2011 therisaReviews
