Bittersweet

Bittersweet

A Poem by therisa

Looking out the window
Mounds of white powder
Greet the eyes
As the wind creates
Several snow eddies
Swirling around the courtyard.

Turning the attention
Back indoors
Leaving behind
The frosted winter wonderland
Outside.

Thoughts
Of a warm fire
Are distance memory
Of a time.

When the world
Seems to be
A different place
Filled with love
And peace.

Now
Anger and war
Are the themes
Which dominate
The lives
We live.

Leaving behind
The charred ruins of lives
Wasted on what
On petty destructive emotions.

Caring only
To get
The last hurtful word
In.
