Softly
The snow falls around me Covering my tracks Upon the sidewalk Within minutes. A silent reminder Of what has been lost Never to return To me. As I walk Towards the library Looking for An avenue of escape For my weary soul During this dreary season. If only For a brief moment My soul is allowed to Visit faraway and distant places Where snow is Unknown. Walk upon sun-kissed beaches Skipping small shell Across the water Kicking up the incoming tide With joyous laughter Rarely so heard In the past couple months As depression grips my soul. Like a small child Released from her parent’s rules For a moment of fun Before returning back To reality. Daydream shattered As a flake or two Melts against my face Bringing me Crashing back To the current reality Which is my life. © 2011 therisa |
