On The FrontlineA Poem by therisaMigraine headache, on a long weekend.Once more It returns With a pre-emptive attack Upon waking up. Each new sound Is an artillery shell Lobbed With pinpoint accuracy Onto the battlefield. Blinding me In a haze Of intense chronic pain Over my third eye. Seeking refuge In the healing darkness Of silence Within my apartment. Never knowing When true relief Will ever come With a migraine. As the tears Stain my face And pillows. In leaving me A widow On this May Long weekend. Unofficial start To summer In Canada.
