A Night Wish

A Night Wish

A Chapter by therisa

Even now
A decade later
You haunt me
With the memories
Of abuse.

Want to scrub
Myself
Until nothing remains
But my burnt body
Before me.

Wiping away
The caustic lye tears
Dissolving the flesh
To the bare bone.

As I lay
My torn body
Prostrated
Before the altar
Of mercy.

Seeking
That final moment
Which serenity surrounds
My troubled soul
In peace.

Closing my eyes
As sleep claims
My soul
For the night.

Sad, dark and filled with sorrows of the past. Like ugly echoes that never end. The emotion is felt in your poem Therisa...I'm just sorry it is.
