Unfair Values?

Capital punishment

Don't understand

Why people protest

Against a Muslim country

For beheading a prisoner.

And we call

These Muslim countries

Barbaric

For their actions.

When

In the West

Some countries

Still practice

Similar method of punishment

By different means.

Which

They support

Without any qualms

Or second guessing.

Despite

A long history

Of innocent victims

Being killed

Under state sanctions.

To which

I don't understand

Their logic.

What happened

To love thy neighbour?

Are we

So vengeful

We need to take

An eye for an eye.

Knowing

It will never bring back

A murdered love one

From the dead.

To appease

Our sense of justice.

a death for death doesn't really solve anything....but there are different views on capital punishment and relevant arguments for both sides...

Thank you, Jacob, for your review of this poem.

Personally, the lost of one innocent life, is one too many. I could never support anyone, who argues for the death penalty. How more innocent people must we bury, before we change our minds?
