And With The Wind Chill, It's Only -32 C

A Chapter by therisa
"

What the temperature feel like, at 7 am, this morning, as I lay, in my bed.

"
Its 7 am
And everyone is
Shivering
In their beds.

Dreading
The first step
From the protective warmth
Of their cocooning bedding
Onto the ceramic flooring
To start their day.

Around me
Star Venus and Squeak
Have nestled
Against my body.

In seeking
My love
And reassurance
That everything
Will be right.

Myself
Just want to
Roll over
And sleep away
The coming day.

Until
Some sanity returns
To the weather department
With more stable temperatures
Than this freaky roller coaster ride
Of extremes highs and lows.

A pipe dream
So rudely interrupted
As the little ones
Demand my attention
To fill their food bowl.

With a heavy sigh
I brave my cooler
Than normal apartment
To satisfy their hunger.

Scurrying about
Like a drop of water
In red hot frying pan
To get myself
Back to the warmth
And comfort
Of my bed.

Knowing
I can relax
Until the sun rises
And shares
Its heat
With me.
