Longing For Paradise

Longing For Paradise

A Chapter by therisa
"

An edited version of my poetic response to, Richard Allen Beevor's poem, "Country Loving Town Boy". http://www.writerscafe.org/writing/Ricbeev/1465732/

"
Longing for
A tranquil  life
Denied to us
By our very nature
As creatures
Of duality.

Glancing over
The backyard fence
At the "might have been's"
With a sad wishful sigh
Upon our lips.

Knowing
It always
Just a step
Or two.

Beyond our fingers
To grasp and hold
Forever.
