No Change

No Change

A Chapter by therisa
"

How little things have changed, over the years.

"
You talk about
A new world order
Spreading across
The world.

I hear
The sound
Of soldier jackboots
Hitting the streets
Below.

Bringing order
To chaos
Where none existed
Before.

Banging on doors
As they search
For "deviants"
Of all types.

Liberating
Those oppressed
By tyrannically dictatorships
With more enlightened regimes
To the super powers.

Herding people
Like livestock
Onto cattle cars
Until every single inch
Is overflowing.

Imposing
Their political view
And moral values
Without
A second thought
About consequences
Of their actions.

Arriving
At their final destination
Greeted by
"Arbeit macht frei"
Hanging over
The entrance way.

As sectarian
Civil wars spread
Among the formerly
Oppressed groups
Threatening
All surrounding countries
With possible civil war.

Only freedom is
A gas chamber
Designed for
Mass genocide
In these death camps.

Shuddering
At the thought
How little
We have advanced
In the past 75 years
Since the start
Of World War II.

As the same rhetoric
Is heard
Today
As then.

Historically, the first concentration camps were designed by British and colonial forces, during the Boer War (1899-1902), where the British rounded up Boer women and children, into these barbed wired camps, to break the fighting spirit of the Boers (descendants of Dutch and French protestant settlers). Creating the first death camps, by mismanagement, poor hygienic conditions and lack of food, as over 26,000 women and children were to perish , in these camps.

Thank you, Lizardo.
Oh boy, this one is very moving. My grand mother was in a camp in Poland.
The war ended and she survived. But the horrible things...

I wasn't aware of that bit of history. Thank you.

Oh, How much do I agree with this writing. Wanted also to get the techinicalities out of the way because it is important to point out how by not using punctuation uniformingly, the writing reads how the reader wants -- in my case very fluid. I liked that aspect, as if, instilling a certain musicality to the writing. That aside the theme, I can only speak from what's aroud me, but we have created so much in the name of the politically correct. Some of which actually have made exactly that, which we were trying to protect more hated, more stereotyped, spreading more ignorance and less enthusiasm from actually knowing what is behind the impulses. This Historical context you gave it gives the reader a good archetype. But you can continue with all the gamma that one may find in society.

To only say :"we have become a more liberal and accepting society" is to play with words.

Thank You.

A truly inspiring piece of writing Therisa - its the sign of madness to repeat the same actions and expect a different outcome yet these so-called statesmen just keeping running down that road. Your concern for humankind is a heavy burden to bear - God love you and keep you.

Thank you, Anto, but I wished this was purely fiction and not reality, for millions of people.

Just venting, Anto. Letting some of my frustration go, in a safe matter.
