A*S out of yoU and ME

A Chapter by therisa
"

Stereotyping that happens, to the transcommunity.

"
Why do people think
Because I'm
A transsexual
I must dress
Act or behave
In certain ways?

To fit
Into their pigeonhole
Of what it means
To be
A trans-lesbian.

As if
There's a single rule
Written down
Somewhere
In stone.

Like a checklist
To be marked off
Of what is acceptable
For someone
In my position
Able to wear or do.

Hello?

Haven't we
Left these stereotypes
Behind us
Upon entry
Into the 21st century?

I would hope so
But too many times
Been proven to be
A romantic dreamer.

Wearing
Rose tinted glasses
Resting firmly
Upon my nose.

As the opposite
Has been proven
The case.

Can only
Shake my head
And utter
A frustrated sigh.

I love how you stand up agains the stereotypes and ignorance of society in this write. I was watching an interview of the Against Me singer, Tome Gable now Laura Jane Grace a while back and was amazed at her story, also how her wife stood with her, love knows no rules or gender. Just amazing... Well done therisa!

Oh how I enjoyed this writing...

My quick answer would be No! Stereotypes are as much alive as always, is just that we have thrown another stereotype called Political Correctness which tries to balance the other out. But then because it is only an act if you skimm through you find that all the stereotypes are very much alive.

Know someone that loves crossdressing at the wekend, only then and he is subject to the most terrible of times, luckily for him, his rugby is second to none which again balances out and makes respect stand for itself.

I think anytime we think that we can sit on the mighty chair of judgement all we do in fact is show our enormous amount of ignorance.

If for pure luck, or destiny or grace you happen to find someone that relates to you as an individual, I would gove thanks! not been made to feel ashamed or antyhing of the sort.

Very relevant writing Therisa.

Thank You.
