Not Another Christmas PoemA Chapter by therisaRemembering those forgotten, during the holiday season. It's Christmastime And the line-ups Are three deep Snaking throughout The store. And yet A sense of emptiness Prevails Among us. As if We have sold Our souls For base trinkets. Soon discarded When the shine has Worn off. Ignoring those Whose needs Are unmet For various reasons. Except When shamed By others. Believing A donated can Or two To the food bank. Will appease Our conscience Until next time. While scorning The physical element In most needing of Re-inforcing. By giving The precious Of all gifts. A person can give To another: Their time Compassion And hope. Bringing light In what Has become A season of darkness And despair For too many.
