Outsider's Lament

Outsider's Lament

A Chapter by therisa
"

An expanded and edited version of my poetic response, to Jack's poem, "Sometimes you just don't belong". http://www.writerscafe.org/writing/jacki137/1294589/

"
As an outsider
Who's looking in
Your words ring true
With a powerful voice
In my head.

Which
We ignore
At our own peril
Too often.

No matter
How much we want
To belong to others
As friends and lovers.

Without selling
Our precious soul
For a handful
Of cheap beads.

In exchange
For a brief moment
Of normalcy.
