"
Sometimes
We must stomach
That which is
Unhealthy.

For our body
And soul
To survive.

More or less
In one piece.

Knowing
Without this holdover
Survival becomes
A vague rumour heard
And dismissed
Around the kitchen table.

As the rumbling grows
Ever so audible
For all to hear
In a 30 km radius.

Pinching pennies
When your assistance cheque
Is still weeks ago
From its arrival.

In quelling
The uprising
From the backseat
Of the rust bucket
You call
A car.
