Caught, In The Middle

Caught, In The Middle

A Poem by therisa
"

How insomnia is affecting me, this morning.

"
Flicking through
The various web pages
My attention wanders
To no point
Particular.

Trying to find
Anything
To grab onto.

Alas
Not.

As the clicking sound
Of the mouse buttons
Is forming
Its own rhythm
In my mind.

Still
My mind refuses
To focus
On anything.

But
The moving traffic
In the library.

As I try
To be creative
When my mind scream
It wants sleep
At all cost
For me.

Except
I can't surrender
To do so
Would be admitting
Defeat to my insomnia.

Something
I'm not ready
To do
Just yet.

Insomnia is a double edged sword. It fosters creativity while sapping our energy.
