Stuck, In A Moment

Stuck, In A Moment

A Chapter by therisa
"

An expanded and edited version of my poetic review of Momzilla's poem, "Painted Pictures Hung Upon the Wall" http://www.writerscafe.org/writing/MomzillaNC/1411962/

"

A brief moment
Forever frozen
In time.

By the brush strokes
Of an artist
Long since
Moved on.

Upon a canvas
Of cloth hide
Or wooden panel.

Unlike
A photograph
The subject's soul
Is free
To roam the room.

Partaking
In our lives
By our emotional response.

As awe is
Reflected back
Through our eyes
And body language.

Conveying
A thousand and one things
Simultaneously
About our inner self
To the painting.

And yet
A sense of incompleteness
Exists
In wanting more
But unable to get it.

Although
We'll never see
This reaction
For the painting is
Trapped.

Within a time bubble
Never to escape
Without destroying
What stands
Before us.

As the painting
Slowly fades away
In our memories.
