The Price To Pay

The Price To Pay

A Chapter by therisa

Expanded and edited version of a poetic response to Icelandicblue's poem, "The Light of Liberation" http://www.writerscafe.org/writing/icelandicblue/1452769/

"
Can feel
The darkness
Moving ever closer
Toward me.

Like a moth
To a burning candle
On the table.

Knowing
The allure is
Filled with danger
For there
To be light.

Oftentimes
Sacrifices
Must be made
By all.

Whether
In human blood
Or one's soul
To cleanse
This toxic waste.

Without them
Hope is
A four letter
With no meaning.

Except
As an archaic entry
In the dictionary.
