I do understand. It's hard to open the door when you feel as brittle as fractured glass.

Exactly. So how does one move beyond this, and open themselves up?

IDK. In my case, I just wasn't even looking any longer. I surrounded myself with people who made me want to be a better person and cut the rest out of my life. I just lived the most honest me and tried to be the best person I could be. Somewhere along the way, quite unexpectedly, I found love and joy and happiness and peace and lifelong companionship and devoted, unmovable loyalty.

Got a feeling, it might be like that for me, Momzilla. As an incredible friend, who is support and critical, when the need be. Understanding, what my needs are, being trans, himself.
