Mother Confessor

Mother Confessor

A Poem by therisa

Thinking about this
Am surprised
And scared
At the same time.

How people respond
By sharing
Their hopes
And fears
With me.

Whether
In person
Or over the Internet.

Becoming
A gentle ear
Will listen
Before offering
A comment.

But
Where do I go
When I need someone
To share?

This burden
Which I carry
Upon my broad shoulders
From other people.

While
Honoured
By this.

There are times
I wish
Not to know anything
Of other people's trouble
As I struggle
With my own concerns.

Am I
Being selfish
By expressing this?

I don't know
As my mental shoulders
Shrug
In response.
