Icing Sugar
A Poem by therisa
Melancholy for the coming Winter season.
A light dusting Like powder sugar Covers the sidewalks As I step out.
Slipping With the first step On the freshly fallen snow Into the nighttime air.
A sad longing Fills my soul At this sight.
Wanting to cry Tears of sorrow At what has been Taken from me.
My sense of joy Left frozen By the roadside.
Covered In layers of slush From passing vehicles Driving by.
As the temperature Drops below zero Once more.
Trapping me Inside this icy prison Until the next thaw.

And that's not happening any time soon. Honestly, from late October to Mid March, are my dark months, despite the fact, I was born, in February. I want to see the sun, on a daily basis, with 20 C highs.

Thank you, Emily. Just wrote, what felt right, to me, as an intuitive writer.
