Star Ascending

Star Ascending

A Chapter by therisa
"

My relationship with Star, one of my three feline companions.

"
Soft peal of laughter
Escapes from me
As I watch you
Playing with your toys
On my bed.

Letting my mind wander
To that day
In November 2011
When you became
Part of this household.

Nearly full grown kitten
With a history of abuse
And abandonment
By humans.

You hid
Underneath the toilet
Refusing to come out
As I tried various methods
To coax you out
Each met with failure.

Not sure
Why I used
A trail of cat food
To liberate you
From your prison.

But
Am glad
It worked.

Over the years
I watch
As you made
Huge strides
In your healing
And personal growth.

Seeing you
Curled in
And moaning
In your sleep
Pains me.

As I want to
Pick you up
Cuddling you
Against my chest
Until that flashback disappears.

But know
You're not ready
For that level of contact
Which saddens me
As I understand
All too well
Myself.

Still
You're inspiration
As I struggle
In my own healing
To face the world
Head on.

I don't understand abuse and cruelty. So many suffer because of someone else. I am happy you and your cat found each other. You help to heal those wounds the two of you in it together.

Very touching tribute to your kitten.

I can relate to this I have taken
in abused animas as my own in the past
and ones people just bought and dropped
in the streets.

There was a cute black Chow in a card board box
out in the middle of the streets just a medium sized
pup almost an adult I was about 16teen then and she stopped
and put it in her car someone just bought him from the
pet store and threw him away my mom made sure he had
his shots and we kept and took care of him until we found
him a good and loving home I called him Bear.

He reminded me of the full grown Black Chow at a
patience of my moms as my mother is a Nurse
that was a Adult that grew up
with me his name was Bear also and he just loved me
so much and this was the sweetest pup my mom found
and so was the full grown one animals and children love me.

This was over in Vinemont Alabama I moved to Alabama
when I was 12 years old it was Huntsville Birmingham we moved to
at first but I moved around a lot as a child I was born in cedar rapids
Iowa.

my Mother has saved many animals
she taught us very good values and just
having gods love in our home molded me
into the loving soul I am Todayand our friends
our home was like their second home and they called
my Mom, mom also and my Friends called my grandpa
Grandpa Joe like me he didn't care RIP but those
were the days thank you for beautiful memories.

Maybe I will write about the stories of the
animals in my life that I had some day I had all kinds
but way to expensive to have any here where
I live the pet fee in these apt. is like 3hundred
and we have car insurance and other things to
pay and it cost just about that much to get the
food and everything to have a pet :(

but one day again we'll have one.

Thank you for sharing just give
her time to come to you allow her to know
that your animal is safe and mean no harm
we did this with Frosty Sheltie sheep dog RIP
but when we first got him poor guy was shaking
and when he knew he was safe he came out of his
shell bit by bit slowly and ended up being like my son
I still cry when I speak of him he was my mother and
father in laws dog but he was all of ours I even did a song
on him maybe some time I'll share it. .

when we are hurt ourselves we understand
when we put our shields up and won't open
up I did that for years with the pains I went
through with my father.

God bless. Benita
