Funny...Yeah, Right
A Poem by therisa
How can I write something If it doesn't flow organically For me?
Like trying to force A large square Into a small circular Opening.
Just won't happen.
And yet That's what I'm doing Trying to write Something funny.
When every fibre In my soul says "No".
Screaming and shouting About the injustice of this I'm about to inflict Upon the world.
My muse Threatens to runaway As I torment her With my lame lines.
Which I claim To be humorous And not horror filled.
An acerbated sigh Leaves my lips As I delete Those verses.

Trying to "be" funny is a hard thing, something at which even the most adept humorists balk. But, finding the humor in your everyday is where funny lives. Watch your cats; I'm sure they'll give you funny. Watch people on the streets -- they're hilarious! Watch what they do when they think no one is looking. Read some P.G.Wodehouse!

Right now, it's anger, exhaustion and frustration, as some idiot pulled the fire alarm, due to a spat with his girlfriend, at 1 am, this morning.

See, that's funny. Write a caustic castigation of the clod! Oo! With alliteration! :D

A caustic castigation of a clod who had a spurious spat with his sweetheart!

Not today, Momzilla. Rather, hit the pillow and sleep, than write.
