The Cage

The Cage

A Poem by therisa

Freedom.

Once
I knew
What this word meant.

But now
I find myself
Restricted by
Invisible walls
From builders unknown.

Left alone
To confront
Unknown traumas
From a lifetime
Of pain.

Stigmatized
And silenced
Through well-meaning people
But who don't understand
The abuse.

Wondering
Why bother
When conventional methods
Don't work.

Except
Make it worse.

Thank you, Laura Lynn. Although, my missing of the first stanza, probably made it obscure.
Anymore conventional methods do not work, but in time these methods will evolve and hopeully allow us all to see without blinders. Another heart wrenching piece.
