November 11th

Remembrance Day thoughts.

Tomorrow

The world gathers

To honour those

Who made

The ultimate sacrifice

For their country.

In the most deadliest

And brutal war

To be fought

At the time.

Which

We grace

With the title

World War One.

Where human life is

A commodity to be spent

With reckless abandon

To capture meaningless hills

Only to give them up

The following month.

Death enters

The modern era

With the usage

Of chemical weapons

And aerial bombardment.

As terror

Becomes the weapon

Of choice

By the generals.

And for what

So dying empires

Can crumble away

At an accelerated pace?

As the fields of Europe

Run blood red

With a dying generation

Fertilizing the poppies

Which now stand.

Reminding us

There are no winners

Only losers

When nations fight.

i like ending. i think i was write at one my poem. at the war is no heroes there is just killers. it s realy sad wars are still around us. still some people building agressive idellogy . it s very sad. i like also you use just few words very simple. and result is very strong piece of poetry . my gratulation.

Thank you, Paige. Twice, during the last century, my dad's family was liberated from German invaders. The second time, happened, a week before my dad's birthday, on May 5, 1945.
