Pride (In The Name Of Equality)A Chapter by therisaReflecting on Ontario passage of hate law protection for the transcommunity.Another year gas past As the LGBT community celebrates And marches Marking the struggles overcome. And yet I feel cheated By the backdoor method Which the Ontario legislature Has granted transpeople Legal protection. Enjoyed by Other LGBT members Under Ontario's hate laws. Softly A frustrated sigh escapes As 13 months have past Since this historical moment That I support. A I Being too harsh And quick In my judgment Of the the process Given the current anti-LGBT climate Around the world? Where expressing yourself Or talking about LGBT issues Is a crime Punishable by jail Or worse By civil society. Which reminds me Equality like justice Is a symbol That must be seen To be effective. Something Ontario's legislature has forgotten Here.
