A Narrow Escape

A Narrow Escape

A Poem by therisa
"

A close encounter with dissociating, last night.

"
Can feel my eyes
Losing their focus
As I look
At your writing.

Like a sense of vertigo
Everything swirls around me
As my body sways
To its own rhythm.

Transporting me
To another world
Far away
From here.

Struggling
To keep afloat
Else lose myself
To the rising tide
Of dissociating.

Where everything exists
In a huge cloud
Of white static
Consuming all.

And time
Has no meaning
Beyond its passing
Unmarked.

And yet
This time
I did escape your clasp
Before you consumed me.

Feeling drained
And weakened
For doing so.

I really liked this poem because it reminds me of when I get lost in a good book and have a hard time making room for anything else because its so difficult to tear myself away from it. On top of that its a great metaphor for love and the pain it brings
Thanks for the read!
