What Is It?
A Poem by therisa
Why do people read my writing?
Am surprised Anyone reads my poems And response to them. Never figuring They hold any meaning Beyond the words Before them. As my heart bleeds out On the white page Or computer screen. In expressing Far more sorrows Than joys. What do you see That I don't In my writing? Am I Being neurotic For asking you This question? Truthfully Never expected Anyone to read this Except those Who I share My poetry with. A soft sigh escapes Into the autumn night As I ponder These questions.

For many years, I have repressed these memories, until a brutal panic attack, lasting 26 hours, broke down my mental barriers. For the last 7 years, I have been slowly rebuilding my defenses. It was suggested to me, I should try writing, as a release for my traumatic past. This January will mark, a year for me, which I have been involved with an art therapy program that treats everyone, as an artist, allowing us, to follow whatever creative path, we want. Myself, I have selected clay-ceramics, as my area. The instructor has told me, I have talent, and wants me, to explore it further.
