Everyday Is, Like Hallowe'en

Everyday Is, Like Hallowe'en

A Chapter by therisa

You may think
I'm certifiably nuts
In writing this
But it's the truth
For the transcommunity.

Every day
We get dressed up
In a costume
Which society views
As appropriate
For our physical gender.

Never realizing
We're in disguise
Hiding our true self
Out of fear
And self-protection.

Especially
When our bodies
Don't match
Our real gender.

Dodging Trolls
And other vile creatures
Which haunt the land
On their daily hunts
Of mayhem.

Dreaming
Of this annual day
When everyone else
Is costume clad.

Allowing us
To step forth
And share
Our true self.

Will admit, I was a huge fan of Ministry, during the mid-late 1980s, while, in high school.
